• A is for • Invented in 1840's by Anna Maria Russell; The Duchess of Bedford. Becoming peckish in the afternoon, Anna began having a pot of tea and a small bite to eat during the gap between breakfast and dinner as the 'luncheon' meal was very light and left her hungry. She began inviting her friends to join her, and so became the 'event' of Afternoon Tea. Not to be confused with High Tea which was a meal for workers and labourers upon returning from a days work. To celebrate #AfternoonTeaWeek you can find our tribute to The Duchess Of Bedford on our website – A blend of our award winning Earl Grey with jasmine blossoms and rose petals – floral, fragrant and delicious! £3.95 #afternoontea #looseleaftea #tea #atozoftea
